Ladies and Gentlemen,
Following the
highly successful Nanofair conferences of the last years which
attracted delegates from all over the world Nanofair 2012 again will
bring together the international community of science and industry.
Already started in 2002 Nanofair is the most established conference on
nanotechnology in Europe and among the premier events worldwide.

6. Kongress "Kunststoffe in E&E-Anwendungen"
Entgegen allen anders lautenden Meldungen und
Prognosen ist auch zu Beginn 2012 keinerlei wirtschaftliche
Stagnation erkennbar. Die Projekttätigkeit ist ungebrochen hoch und
hält uns im Alltag weiterhin fest im Griff. Gerade in diesen
wirtschaftlich stabilen und erfolgreichen Zeiten sind wir aber
angehalten den Blick nach vorne zu richten und die Produkte, die
Prozesse und das Gesamtunternehmen zu analysieren, auf
Marktveränderungen anzupassen und damit kontinuierlich
weiterzuentwickeln.
Genau hier setzt unsere Jahrestagung an. In diesem Jahr beleuchten wir
dabei die unterschiedlichen Komponenten der erfolgreichen
Kunststoffverarbeitung separat. Wir diskutieren die Trends bei
neuen Werkstoffen, neuen Verfahren und ebenso in der Produktgestaltung
selber. Außerdem werden wir auf die wichtigen
Zukunftstechnologien der E&E-Branche, wie die E-Mobility und
erneuerbare Energien speziell eingehen.
Darüber hinaus ist es auch in diesem Jahr ein wesentliches Anliegen die
Teilnehmer bei der Tagung und auch am Rand in den Pausen mit einander
ins Gespräch zu bringen und so Ideen für neue Ansätze und
Partnerschaften entstehen zu lassen. Damit uns das Gehörte auch
dauerhaft im Gedächtnis bleiben kann, haben wir bei unserem schon
traditionellen Dinner-Vortrag die aktuelle Gedächtnisweltmeisterin
eingeladen, die uns Anregungen geben wird wie das gelingen kann.
Auch bei unserem 6. Branchentreff der Kunststoffe in
E&E-Anwendungen nehmen Sie also wieder viele neue Ideen und Impulse
mit auf den Heimweg.

Connecting the Players: 3rd International Congress on Biophotonics (ICOB2012), Jena, Germany, June 19-21
Operating in
an age of demographic change, the worldwide exchange of goods, and
increasing mobility, our society faces many challenges, for example in
the health field. A single scientific discipline cannot master these
challenges on its own. Networking and scientific and informational
exchange on all levels are essential for a successful approach.
What does this mean
exactly? We not only need to collaborate with colleagues in other
disciplines to benefit from their knowledge and ideas, but we also need
the political force that creates the framework for our research. We
need the industry to develop our research into marketable products and
ultimately benefit mankind. And last but not least, we need
well-educated young people who adopt this cooperative attitude and grow
with it into the scientific world.
The 3rd
International Congress on Biophotonics will be the comprehensive event
for the community worldwide. From medical and biological end users to
decision makers from industry, ICOB 2012 addresses the different groups
in Biophotonics with custom-tailored sessions. Apart from biomedical
challenges and cutting-edge Biophotonics research, topics at ICOB will
also cover the framework conditions like education and funding.
By bringing
together the whole spectrum of experts in Biophotonics ICOB 2012 will
take interdisciplinary networking to the next level and provide key
individuals with what is necessary to increase success in the field.

2012 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, October 7-10, 2012, Dresden, Germany
The Ultrasonics Symposium returns to Germany, now to Dresden from October 07 - 10, 2012. The conference will be held at the
International Congress Center, situated at the margin of the Elbe river
and close to the historical center of Dresden. The site provides both a
great venue for our conference and unparalleled access to all that
Dresden has to offer.
Papers are solicited for this
conference describing original work in the field of ultrasonics. Poster
and oral presentation formats will be used at the symposium.
Prospective authors should note that poster sessions provide an
alternative format which allows for greater flexibility and expanded
audience interaction.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is May
04, 2012. The abstracts should be submitted in electronic form
according to the specific information posted on the conference web
page. Additional conference information can be found at the Symposium
web site: http://ewh.ieee.org/conf/ius_2012. Each abstract will receive
careful review and evaluation by the Symposium Technical Program
Committee. Evaluation criteria will include originality of the work,
contribution to the state-of-the-art, and overall interest to the
ultrasonics community.
Authors are required to concisely divide their abstract into three sections: I. Background, Motivation and Objective; II. Statement of Contribution/Methods; III. Results/Discussion.
In these three sections the authors must clearly and concisely explain
the motivation and background, the contribution of the work and
methods, and the results and conclusions of the paper. Papers are

Message from the General Chair
Every year when the worldwide IEEE
ultrasonics family comes together, the local surroundings create a
specific atmosphere. In Dresden you will feel the special ambience of
our venue: A unique city filled with theaters, museums, collections and
music halls with international recognition ideally frames our congress.
Tradition and innovation merge to a creative spirit that gives wings to
both art & culture, and - in our case - to research & science.
The Dresden conference will be
a platform to present, communicate and discuss new ideas, challenges,
and scientific results in the rich field of ultrasonics. In good
tradition all topic areas including medical ultrasound, physical
acoustics, nondestructive testing, microacoustics, sensors and
actuators, new materials, functional principles, and technologies will
be represented.
We will draw special attention
to the conference within Dresden with its thriving research landscape
of science and technology and expect a high attendance from Germany and
throughout Europe.
It is noteworthy, that Dresden will
be the first city from a former Eastern Bloc state to organize and
host the Ultrasonics Symposium. Needless to say, that this conference
is a reward of the peaceful revolution in 1989. The Dresden
Frauenkirche as a famous work of architecture that has become a symbol
of the worldwide support and friendship which facilitated its rebuild
only a few years ago will provide a wonderful venue for us to come
together and enjoy music.

Students submitting abstracts are invited to
participate in a student paper competition. To participate, the student
must be the lead author and present the paper. Further information will
be posted on the conference website.

29th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society
The Polymer
Processing Society was founded with the intention to foster
advancement and innovation in science, technology and engineering of
polymer processing. The Annual Meeting is held to establish a
discussion forum for the worldwide community of engineers and
scientists in the field.
The 29th Annual
Meeting of the Polymer Processing Society
(PPS-29) will be organized in Germany. The PPS-29 provides the- matic
range for learning and exchanging of new research results covering
conventional processing technologies, rheology, process modeling and
simulation, morphology and structure development and
nanotechnology related processing technology.
The meeting will be enhanced by an exhibition and a social program presenting a typical Bavarian atmosphere.
